Inside the Mind of an Artist

NYC based musician and producer Leach was willing to let me spend a week following him around capturing real moments in his studio and around the city, but I knew that we needed to bring viewers into the world of the video. I came up with the idea of going down into the subway as a metaphor for the inner world of an artist. We follow Leach closely as he goes underground, finds a private space in a public place and let’s his mind wander until we are seemingly pulled right into his head. Beyond my fascination with the creative process, I’ve always romanticized both making music and living in the big apple, so I wanted to make something that grounded that romance in raw, unvarnished reality—but make it look pretty.
